RANGERS @#$%!

This game was one of the hardest working games for the islanders. The islanders had a big problem with effort in the beginning of the season. However, since the islanders have most likely lost a playoff spot for this season, and captain Bill Guerin has been traded, the Islanders have shown that they can work hard, and they can win. If this continues next season, the Islanders might just make the playoffs next year. The Islanders had a tough start to the game with immediately getting scored upon, and going down by one. The islanders had no pressure in the beginning of the game. Then the islanders got started with a few good chances, and put on their own pressure. Eventually the Canadiens couldn’t take the pressure any more. They eventually collapsed and goaltender Carrey Price let one squeeze by, and the game would be tied. The islanders would keep pressure for a little while, but they couldn’t score for the remainder of the period. Then the next highlight was when there was a small tussle in the back of the Canadiens goal. When each player got out of the box for rouging, the gloves flew off so quickly that neither player could set their stick in the proper position. The fight was even, with hard hits and each team got momentum. However, the momentum evened out, and neither team scored that period. Then within 10 seconds of the next period Jackman dropped the gloves  They really went at it, but Jackman had a hard right, and won the fight.  The islanders then took a quick lead from the momentum of the fight. After that the islanders took 2 minor penalties in the same play, so they had to kill off a 2 whole minute 5-on-3 power play. The deed was accomplished with tremendous work by Bruno Gervais, and it was killed; however, the islanders success didn’t last long. Immediately after the penalty kill, the Canadiens immediately scored, and the game was tied. The game would stay that way until overtime. Bruno Gervais took a quick shot less than a minute into over time, and Kyle Okposo got on the rebound, and the puck just went over Price’s leg, and into the goal.

2.) New York Islanders, Yan Danis: Only made one or two amazing saves, but stopped many screened, and hard shots

1.) New York Islanders, Kyle Okposo: Had a good game with a very aggressive game, and scored the game winning goal, off of a rebound

Blake Comeau had a couple of assists in this game, and fought hard

The score to this game was pretty much expected by everyone. The first in the NHL (Boston Bruins) Against the last in the NHL, the New York Islanders. Everyone knew that Boston would win; however it was much closer of a game than anyone expected. The Islanders held their own, and almost tied the game late in the third. The Bruins did all of their scoring in the first with goals from Phil Kessel and Marc Savard. The only penalty taken in the period was Blake Comeau with a holding call against the Isles. In the 2nd Marc Streit ripped a shot off that got past Thomas to make the game 2-1. The assists on that goal went to Kyle Okposo and Richard Park. Richard park is a name that the Islanders have not heard recently due to a un disclosed injury. He returned last game, in the win against Montreal The Islanders are happy to have him back, because he gives so much hockey sense to the team. Richard is one of the smartest players on the ice. He knows went to pas, shoot, and hit. Pretty much every decision of his is correct. Park also is a very hard worker who skates as hard as he can every shift on the ice. He doesn’t just get ice time. He earns it, and deserves it. The islanders kept it close, with amazing defense. Most of the remainder of the game was played in the Islanders zone, and the Bruins getting scoring chances; however, the Isles defense figured out a way to keep it to a 1 goal lead. In the 3rd, the only highlight was Islanders player Time Jackman boarding Andrew Ference, of the Bruins, and Milan Lucic responding to Jackman’s play. A fight did not break-out, but the gloves were off, and they each got a few good shoves in. There were not many shots in the game, but Thomas and Danis made most of the saves required. Yan Danis came away with 22 saves, not including a dazzling glove save that Danis made, as he threw his arm up above is head, and when is arm stopped whipping around, the puck was in his hand. In conclusion, the Islanders did not win, like expected, but unexpectedly gave up a good fight, and kept the game close.
